Takeshi Hieda
Research Project: The Transformation of Party Systems and Welfare States under Economic Structural Changes
Dr. Hieda received his Ph.D. from the European University Institute, and is currently a professor at the Graduate School of Law, Osaka Metropolitan University. His research area covers comparative political economy, welfare states, and party politics in advanced industrialized countries. He has published one monograph in English, Political institutions and elderly care policy: Comparative politics of long-term care in advanced democracies (Palgrave Macmillan 2012), and articles in the European Journal of Political Research, Party Politics, Comparative European Politics, Social Policy and Administration, and other scholarly journals. His research project during the 2023–24 academic year will examine the association between party system realignment and the transition toward a social investment state among advanced democracies.
