The Program Director is Christina L. Davis, Edwin O. Reischauer Professor of Japanese Politics in the Department of Government. Susan J. Pharr, Edwin O. Reischauer Professor of Japanese Politics Emerita, serves as the Program’s Senior Advisor. The Program leadership consults and collaborates with the Faculty Advisory Committee and the International Advisory Committee on strategic planning and programming. Faculty Associates at Harvard and neighboring institutions participate actively in program seminars, symposia, and workshops. Staff supports a variety of program activities.

Program affiliates complete a major research paper during the academic year, and present their research panels in program seminars. Class Representatives in Tokyo organizes annual receptions in Tokyo in January, and organize other activities for each class of affiliates.
