Research Project: Economic Policymaking and the Perception of the China Threat in the U.S. and Japan

 

Dr. Suginohara received her B.A. and M.A. in International Relations from the University of Tokyo and obtained her Ph.D. in Political Science from Columbia University. She is currently a professor in the Faculty of Global and Intercultural Studies at Ferris University in Japan. Her areas of research are international and comparative political economy, with a focus on the politics of financial regulations and corporate governance in the United States and Japan. Her recent work has examined the regulations of inward foreign direct investment (FDI) from the perspective of national security. Her research project during the 2023-2024 academic year is titled “Economic Policymaking and the Perception of the China Threat in the United States and Japan.”
