Jemma Kim
Research Project: Assessing the Trade-Security Nexus: A Study of Japan-South Korea Trade Policy and Its Implications for East Asian Governance
Dr. Kim is a Professor in the School of Global Japanese Studies at Meiji University, Tokyo. She holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from Hitotsubashi University, and has obtained a double Master's degree from Korea University and Hitotsubashi University. Her research examines the political economy of East Asia, focusing on issues related to free trade agreements, regionalism, global governance, economic security and export controls. She has authored several works, including Japan and East Asian Regional Integration (Routledge, 2018), Japan’s Economic Diplomacy (Keiso Shobo, 2023), Power Shift and Global Governance (Yuhikaku, 2018), and others. During the current academic year, Dr. Kim will conduct research on the trade policies of Japan and South Korea and their Implications for East Asian governance.
