Research Project: Relational Assets in the World of International Organizations: How Rising Powers Initiate Economic Liberalization

Dr. Tomoko Takahashi is an Assistant Professor at Kyoto University. She received her Ph.D., M.A., LL.B. at the University of Tokyo, and another M.A. (with Honors) at the University of Chicago. She has been a Visiting Researcher at WZB Berlin Social Science Center, and a Visiting Student at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva. Her research interests center on international institutions, with an emphasis on East and Southeast Asia. Her projects examine the dynamics of powers, norms and institutional designs, using statistical analysis, multilingual archives, and interviews. Her latest publications appear in Global Studies Quarterly and International Interactions. At Harvard, she will focus on rising powers’ economic ties and their relationship to economic liberalization.
