Research Project: A Grand Unified Theory of Real and Monetary Economics: Secular Stagnation and Monetary Policy Interdependence

Dr. Furusawa is a professor at the Graduate School of Economics, University of Tokyo. He holds a B.A. and an M.A. from Hitotsubashi University, and received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before he joined the University of Tokyo, he taught at Brandeis University, Fukushima University, Yokohama National University, and Hitotsubashi University. He visited Boston University (Fulbright Scholar) and the Program on U.S.-Japan Relations (Abe Fellow). His articles have been published in Journal of International Economics, Review of International Economics, The World Economy, and other journalsHe is the recipient of the JSIE Kiyoshi Kojima Award, the Japan Academy Medal, the JSPS Prize, and the IEFS Japan Koji Shimomura Award. At Harvard, he will conduct research on the unification of the theory of real and monetary economics, with a special focus on secular stagnation and monetary policy interdependence.
