Relational Intelligence and Institutional Barriers: A Japan-U.S. Comparative Study
Miho Kito is Director of Programs at the Center for Systems Awareness, a systems change organization with roots in MIT and the Society for Organizational Learning. After beginning her career in corporate banking, startup management during a successful IPO, and organizational development consulting, she moved to the United States and has spent more than a decade designing and leading international learning and change initiatives grounded in systems thinking and social emotional learning. She has supported global learning communities involving educators, leaders, and practitioners from more than 60 countries. During the 2026–27 academic year, she will conduct a comparative study of educational systems in Japan and the United States, examining how institutions, culture, and relationships shape inclusion, relational approaches to learning and intelligence, well being, and participation in society. She holds a B.Ed. in Human Development Sciences from Nagoya University and an M.S. in Organizational Leadership from Northeastern University.
