**Research Project:**  
Trade and Security from the Perspective of the WTO  
  
Miho Kato received her Bachelor of Laws from Waseda University, M.A. from Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, and her LL.M from Northwestern University. She most recently served as Director for EPA negotiation in the Japanese  
government, Ministry of Finance, Customs and Tariff Bureau. Her professional career includes four years at the Permanent Mission of Japan to the International Organizations in Geneva from 2019 to 2023, working as a trade diplomat and representing Japan at the WTO meetings in Switzerland. Her area of research is how to pursue national security goals in the globalized economy, while embracing the core values of the WTO in the age of tariffs and trade war.
