**Research Project:** Who Cares for the Elderly? The Comparative Politics of Elder Care in the US, UK and Japan

Dr. Laurence is a professor and chair of the Department of Government and Legal Studies at Bowdoin College, where he has also served as Director of the Asian Studies Program. He received a Ph.D. in Political Science from Harvard University and a B.A. from Oriel College, Oxford University. His research interests are in the comparative political economy of social welfare, media and finance. He is the author of *The Politics of Public Broadcasting in Britain and Japan: the BBC and NHK Compared* (Routledge, 2023) and *Money Rules: the New Politics of Finance in Britain and Japan* (Cornell University Press 2001). He has served on the Editorial Advisory Board of the *Journal of Digital Media and Politics* and before entering academia he worked as a fund manager for the Bank of Tokyo International and for Lloyds of London. He is launching a new research project, titled “Who Cares for the Elderly? The Comparative Politics of Elder Care in the US, UK and Japan.”
