Research Project: Mediating Power: How Hybrid Media Disrupts Elite Messaging in Japan
Dr. Moreshead received his Ph.D. in Political Science and M.A. in East Asian Studies from Yale University, and his B.A. in Economics and East Asian Studies from Wesleyan University. His research interests concern comparative politics and political communication, with a substantive focus in contemporary Japanese political media and the fragmentation of public opinion. His methods include survey experiments and machine learning, with previous work appearing in the American Journal of Political Science. For this academic year, his research project will explore how social media and a fragmented political agenda have damaged the Japanese political establishment and emboldened new actors.
